Castell de Tamarit, Tarragona wedding photographer

Tarragona, Spain is a stunning medieval town located on the Costa Daurada by the Mediterranean Sea. Offering spectacular views over the windy beaches, this town is full of hidden stone streets and archaeological sites. The highlight of them is the amphitheatre by the beach. Tarragona is a beautiful destination for those who want to explore Catalonian history and culture, combined with a fabulous beach destination.

A few minutes away from the busy beaches of Tarragona lies the Castell de Tamarit – Tamarit Castle with an idyllic setting on a cliff overlooking an endless white beach. The first mentions of the Tamarit Castle date back to the 11th Century. Through history, the castle was the residence of the Archbishop of Tarragona and the Marquises of Tamarit. In the 20th Century, it was bought and restored by an American collector and turned into a luxury private venue.

Sandra and Greg saw the Tamarit Castle while they were travelling through Spain and just knew that if they’re ever going to get married, it’s going to be here.

Flash forward a few years, we were on our way to Barcelona from Vienna, to be their Tarragona Wedding Photographers. We took a few days before the wedding to truly explore and experience the colourful Tarragona. It’s a hidden gem and even though it was the peak of the tourist season, there were mostly just locals.

Sandra and Greg flew in from California and made sure their little dog Marshmallow was there with them. Their wedding was intimate and fun, surrounded with amazing friends and family.

They got ready in the chambers of the castle and they each got their own tower. The ceremony was on the spectacular terrace of the Castell de Tamarit with the beach in the background. The officiator was their best friend. He was there when they met for the first time at Ultra Croatia in Split and he made the ceremony so personal and emotional.

Afterwards we enjoyed some amazing food and then we took a stroll down to the beach and through the castle to take some portraits while the guests enjoyed the cocktails.

Tarragona was such a beautiful experience. Loved the food, loved the beach, loved the culture. But most of all, loved being Sandra and Greg’s wedding photographers. We’re so blessed to be doing what we do and meeting all these amazing people from all over the globe.
